A summary of our government-targeted projects designed to speed up carbon drawdown & promote effective climate action
We’ve spent considerable time researching and building our social media content delivery network.
While deferring to no one in our contempt for our Silicon Valley Overlords, what these blinkered sociopaths have built is truly extraordinary.
We’ve been experimenting with ways of leveraging their fantastic array of ‘free’ social media platforms in pursuit of our Goal. Though optimised to multiply eyeballs and make money and facilitate users sharing these objectives, these platforms work just as well if you aim to speed up carbon drawdown.
We’re probing for ways to ju-jitsu the technology behind these platforms to our purpose. Though they’re designed (indirectly) to put more carbon into the atmosphere by persuading us to buy more crap we don’t need, it turns out that the same virtual infrastructure can be used to remove carbon from the atmosphere, by facilitating Effective Climate Activism.
We’ve even found some ways in which doing the latter reveals glitches and cracks that can be used to undermine the former. We’re still discovering new ones, and new ways of exploiting them, but for all the damage our Silicon Valley Overlords have wrought on our society, they’ve also provided an extraordinarily powerful and sophisticated network for See Through News to pursue its goal of carbon drawdown at zero cost.
Always pragmatic, See Through News has started with the platform that reaches the most eyeballs, and worked its way down. We’ve claimed the Seethroughnews handle on every social media platform we’ve come across (please alert us if you find one we’ve missed), but our focus so far has been on the Big Two, Facebook and YouTube.
Horizontal Geographic Facebook Groups
One matrix of our Facebook groups is our five levels, categorised by relative scale [pilot groups in brackets, but more are being added all the time – contact us if you’d like us to set up a new See Through Group]:
- Global [See Through News]
- National [See Through Britain]
- Regional [See Through South West]
- State/City/Province [See Through Wiltshire]
- Local [See Through Salisbury]
Vertical Topic Facebook Groups
Our second matrix is based on subject matter, like Desks in a newsroom. Posts from these Topic Groups can be cross-posted to relevant Geographic, Topic or Project Groups.
We’re adding new ones all the time, but examples include:
Project Facebook Groups
These are Facebook Groups for our various Projects, e.g.:
- The See Through News Superhero & Supervillain Drawing Competition
- The See Through News Newspaper Review Project
- The See Through News Vox Pox Project
- How To Live Without Plastic
A pen-and-paper game to have fun, and in the process re-direct thinking about effective climate activism away from Individual Behaviour, and towards Government Regulation.
Our trilogy of interlinked online games, using fun interactivity and gamification to lead Unwilling Inactivists, or Ineffective Activists, towards effective climate action.
- The Think Game raises your awareness.
- The Learn Game educates you
- The Act Game that actually reduces or removes atmospheric carbon
Each game addresses, respectively, the Media, Business and Government Heads of the Three-Headed Beasts that stand between us and carbon drawdown.
They follow the logic of Thinking before you Learn before you Act.
This is the end game, which translates worthy thoughts into Effective Climate Activism, AKA hitting the power-holders where it hurts…
See Through News is developing an interconnecting series of ultra-ambitious projects that seek to use bleeding-edge AI technologies to reduce carbon. It’s the same technology that usually used to increase atmospheric carbon by persuading us to buy more stuff, but it works just fine doing the opposite too.
AI is, after all, just technology. We can use a hammer to tap in the final hand-hewn peg in a no-nail, sustainable eco-lodge, or to smash in a stranger’s skull – or our own, for that matter.
The choice is ours.
Evidence-based Greenwash detectors.
A series of branded indices, based on data generated by The Think Game, to both reflect public (mis-)perceptions of the green credentials of various countries, individuals, brands, companies and organisations, and provide an opportunity to nudge Unwilling Inactivists towards effective climate action.
